Press Release , Montreal
Individuals from all walks of life converge at the Downtown Kildonan Hall (3419 Redpath) on Saturday June 4 to join their voices together in an all day-long celebration of peace, yoga, chanting, meditation, and healing, at the Montreal Chant Festival, a vision held by local chant artist Lea Longo, who sees the continuous growth of the festival, (now in its 4th year) as a positive impact of the human value of inner peace and happiness.
The fest, which kicks off with a FREE morning group yoga class with Dr Bali, 92 year old vedanta scholar , DR Marilyn Rossner followed by many local chant artists as Patrick Bernard, Lea Longo, Steve Trottier, Karen St Laurent , Gotta Lago and also Kusala Thero, a buddhist monk from Sri Lanka ! There are many more on the list and we suggest to look at the schedule for a full taste of diverse devotional music. The day will center around meditative and joyful "Kirtan" music, a form of musical expression intended to lead listeners into a state of meditation, relaxation, and bliss.
Upon visiting Bhakti Fest back in 2007 in California, Lea Longo envisioned Montreal, also as one of the futur centers for Bhakti, a form of musical, devotional expression. "We are excited to see where Kirtan will be in 5 years from now " , says the founder.
Local vendors will be offering products and services. Tickets are 50$ for the whole day - bring your yoga mat !
